More Information:It’s tough to strike a balance between the peculiar and the spectacular, but we believe we’ve succeeded with today’s kgbdeal. Grab a friend and put our theory to the test with a 2.5-hour kayaking excursion event to see the Congress Avenue Bridge Bats on July 2, August 6, or September 9 courtesy of Rowing Dock for just $15. “But there’s nothing peculiar about bats,” you might say – well, these bats are pretty unique and you can see them from your choice of two one-person kayaks or one two-person kayak. The Congress Avenue Bridge Bats are the largest urban bat colony in North America, and they reside under (you guessed it) the beautiful Congress Avenue Bridge on Lady Bird Lake, formerly known as Town Lake. Once dusk falls, you’ll observe spectacular flight patterns as the animals emerge to forage for food and blanket the sky with their majesty. It’s just one of those really cool-looking phenomena that nature affords us, and it’s one that you can share with one of your best buds.

“I came to Austin Texas for a conference and my friend took me to the Rowing Dock. We rented a double person [kayak] and I had a perfect experience!” –Eli Z. on 5/24/11
